Catching up
2 nights ago...
I know this is abit late but i still wanna post it up.
3 students from my ex-practicum school called me up. One of them was the naughtiest boy in my naughtiest class. He is a Thai who doesn't take mother tongue and so, stays in the class onli to disrupt my lessons. The first thing he asked me was if i remembered him. I said "Of cos" who wouldn't. I remembered the other two as well of course. Just that this has a deeper impression on me. I had quite a chat with them. I was very happy that night. Simply because they remembered me. Yup. I guess i am easily contented.
Another boy from NT class smsed me the other day: "Miss Lee, i passed my chinese."
Simple message, great meaning to me. That's what keeps you going on i guess. :)

Uniforms...
1 set of Number 1, 1 set of number 3, 2 sets of number 4.
4 sets of uniforms.
1 pair of boots, 1 pair of black heels.
2 pairs of footwear.
1 cap for number 1, 1 cap for number 3, 1 barade or whatever dunno how to spell, 1 green cap for number 4.
4 caps altogether.
Plus all the little accessories on caps, legs, waist, shoulders, collars...
countless.
All these imply that NCC is for real.
The nightmare is just about to begin.
Wish me luck.

Assumption
Let's talk about assumption today.
Assumption. I heard from someone, somewhere before that "assumption is the lowest form of knowledge". Well, see to it yourself if you want to agree with it or not.
This morning, i had a taste of the result of assuming all things. I got down the bus as usual, on my way to school. There is this newly built traffic light that is supposed to facilitate traffic flow (ermm or should i say hinder). Without second thoughts, i stood with the 5-6 people by the traffic light, waiting for the green man to appear. Lo and behold! We waited for about 5 minutes and i sensed that something's wrong. Something prompt me to take a look... Just as i guessed! No one pressed the button at all... what the... sigh... I was really quite pissed then... i mean, i am already quite late and gonna be real late because of some stoopid traffic light that is slow to react and some stoopid pedestrians (including myself of cos) who assumes that others have pressed the button. On hindsight, i really felt like an idiot. Waiting for nothing to happen. Together with my students somemore. Best. And guess what, after i pressed the button, we still had to wait for 5 minutes more lo! Imagine standing by the road, inhaling all the exhaust carbon dioxide and allowing yourself to be exposed to such dirt and dust for the whole of TEN minutes... all because of ASSUMPTION.
Let's apply this to daily life.
How many times have we assumed things just because we are too lazy to put it into action or to see to it that it happened. Or simply, lazy to find out the truth, lazy to clarify. Have we been assuming too much? Have we assumed that our friends do not need any word of encouragement from us simply because they greeted you with a smile each day? Have you been assuming that somebody doesn't care for you or that you are not important in his/her heart, simply because he or she did not do what you expected him or her to do? Have you been assuming that life is supposed to be the way it is now and it ain't going to get any better or worse?
Hey, stop assuming. Take it that i am talkiing to myself as well... Stop assuming that your friend need no encouragement. Just encourage. Stop assuming that he/she doesn't care. Just ask. Find out why they failed to meet your expectations. Stop assuming that life is gonna be the way it is. Just make things happen.

Some insights to life...
Serious title doesn't it sound like?
Well... 只因近日感触良多。。。很想找个抒发管道。
Recently, i fell in love with pampering myself with stuff i have never imagined myself to be in love with. I am willing to spend anything just to pamper myself and make myself happy. Is that life? To live my life to the fullest while i can? While i have the chance to? I mean, one can never know when, and how much time you have left to enjoy what you have been slogging for all your life... 及时行乐 i guess, is the attitude which most people in this world is embracing at the moment. Sigh.
A few days ago, on Friday, i witnessed something that saddens my heart. I have this little student whom i have never seen before ever since i entered the school. Apparently, he's on long-term MC. He came back these 2 weeks, just for one purpose-- to sit through the exams so that he could get a score that allows him to be transferred to a school nearer his house. He requested for this transfer because a school nearer his house is more convenient for him, otherwise he would have to take a cab to school everytime. The first time i saw him, i recognised him immediately. He was this little pale looking boy who wears a cap, red home clothes and bermudas to school that day. He moved around with the aid of his crutches under both his armpits. Looking down, all you can see is one right leg supporting him and no leg under his left bermudas. Yes, just a piece of cloth hanging from his waist, that's the result of contracting bone cancer...
The sight was really heart wrenching. I had never seen him as a healthy little kid rounding around the school and yet i felt my heart ache. Can you imagine those teachers and classmates who had been interacting with him and seeing him well and healthy before? What would be going through their minds?? I think the impact of seeing the big change in him even saddens their hearts more. That's life...there's many things and circumstances we can't control. Yet, we can choose our attitude. It makes the difference. 加油。
